Curatorial Project
Soft Shoulder, a genre-blurring show at Cambridge Art Association’s Kathryn Schultz Gallery, convenes ten artists, invested in process and liberated approaches for making. Curated by Cathleen Daley, artist/co-founder of Room 83 Spring, this diverse range of work incorporates everyday materials and hybrid practices, grafting craft to studio technique in expressive outcomes from formal to less so. In fiber, paint, and sculpture, Liza Bingham, Ed Christie, Samantha Fields, Valérie Gobeil, Hilde-Kari Guttormsen, Marta Kaemmer, Meg Lipke, Diana Jean Puglisi, Josh Richards, and Jason Rohlf court the irregular and awkward to ends fearless, vulnerable, and decidedly human.
